July Spotlight Blog for Young Siblings
It’s nearly the summer holidays! Do you enjoy having no school, lie-ins and some free time to do the things you love? Summer can be really great – but we know that for some siblings, the long holidays can feel a little tricky too.
Maybe your brother or sister needs a lot of extra support at home, which means things can feel busier and noisier than usual. Perhaps some of your activities or clubs get cancelled over the holidays. You might miss your friends, or find that your summer looks quite different from theirs.
All of those feelings are completely normal – whether you’re excited, find parts of it tricky, or just don’t look forward to the holidays at all. However you feel, that’s okay.
Here are a few things that might help:
- Stay in touch with friends – a message, a call or meeting up can really help
- Talk to a trusted adult if things feel too much at home
- Try something new – you could decorate cakes or biscuits, make your own ice lollies, or look online for crafting ideas
- Do something just for you – watch a favourite film, read a book or listen to your favourite music
We hope that whatever summer looks like for you, you have some good times.
