Here’s what professionals have to say after attending our online workshops:

Really interesting and informative. Presentation was engaging – lots of useful information presented in a compact/concise way, easy to follow, not too heavy. Lots of food for thought! Following the workshop, I watched the Ted Talk that was referred to – Recognising Glass Children – really powerful and emotive – thank you for recommending. Thank you for an enjoyable workshop.”

“The presenter was a sibling so it was good to hear their story. The session made me think about the pressures some siblings face and how we sometimes as professionals ignore their needs.”

“For me, I now have a better and refreshed knowledge about the challenges that siblings of the children I work with may be facing so I can bring this into the work I do and it will definitely be something I discuss more with parents”

Frequently asked questions:

Why do you charge for the workshops?

Our training programme provides a much-needed income source for the charity – we don’t receive any statutory funding to support our work.  We provide a professional service and our training is highly regarded.

How will our parents benefit from a Sibs workshop?

Our workshops are often the ONLY time that parents have the opportunity to ask questions about the support needed by their sibling children.  Rest assured that with 24 years of experience of running workshops for parents and professionals, we have the topic well covered – your session will be money well spent.

How many parents can attend?

The workshops are for a minimum of 8 parents.  An ideal maximum is 20-25, but we can have more attending if that’s what you need.  Contact us for a chat and we will advise.

Is the workshop online?

Yes, we deliver all our workshops online via our Zoom platform.  Parents have told us that they find it easier to attend online because of juggling other caring responsibilities.

Who delivers the workshop?

Two members of the Sibs team attend for the full workshop, providing facilitation and administration.  The sessions are led by a professional with lived experience of being a sibling – offering unique insight and tips.

Your organisation just needs to join the online session and we will do the rest.

How do parents book to attend?

It is your responsibility to manage the booking of workshop places.   Sibs will send you the workshop Zoom link so that you can send it out to all who have booked.  You can either then forward their names for the Sibs team to admit them to the session, or we can make you a Zoom co host and you can admit them.

Can you come out to us and deliver the workshop in person?

Unfortunately, we can’t deliver our 1 hour workshops in person as the additional cost for staff time and travel is prohibitive. If you are wanting to book a bespoke session such as a whole day workshop, or conference presentations, please contact us and we can discuss.

Many of our parents work – can you offer evening timings?

Absolutely. We can offer daytime or evening slots for our workshop sessions.  It is helpful to book these well in advance, as our training calendar books up quickly.

Our group is for parents of disabled children with a specific condition, can you tailor your workshop to meet their needs?

Yes. We have run workshops for parents of children with a range of disabilities and health conditions.  We can include specific topics or questions, if needed.

Can we record the workshop?

No.  Sibs provides a safe space for parents and carers to come together to learn, reflect and ask questions about their own family situations.  Attendees will also be given handouts and signposting to other resources. Sibs also offers the opportunity for families to contact us afterwards if they have further questions.

Do you share the slides after the workshop?

We send a handout after the event, with all the information and topics covered during the session.

What feedback have you had about the workshops?

We have a high level of satisfaction and feedback from running workshops.  Here are what some parents have told us:

“The whole workshop was so smooth and well organised”

“There was some fresh ideas that I hadn’t considered before”

“Definitely sign up, don’t be scared to get help/advice, quite a lot hit home BUT I wasn’t alone and so much help given”

“The feeling of togetherness – the Sibs training provides as a warm, welcoming and open environment with no judgement.”
