November Spotlight Blog for Young Siblings
Pets can be extra special when you’re a young sibling. They can be loving and fun and they can help tricky times feel a little less worrying. Have you noticed that stroking your dog, cat, rabbit or another pet can help you feel calm? Spending time with animals can help you feel less lonely, worried or unsure about things. Some schools and hospitals have therapy dogs to help pupils and patients. It’s such a great idea!
You might have a dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, fish, snake or another kind of pet. How do they make you feel? And if you don’t have a pet, which animal would you choose? Do one of your friends or someone in your family have a pet you love? Whether they’re in your home or somewhere else, pets can bring extra happiness to our days.
Some pets need time outside. Walking your dog or playing with your rabbit in the garden can help you feel good too.
Some dogs are trained to help people. You might have a support dog at home that helps your disabled brother or sister. The dog may have become a family pet that you all love too. They can be a big help to everyone at home.
Looking after a pet can make you feel proud and watching them or playing with them can bring lots of happiness.
We’d love to hear about your pet if you have one 🐶😺 You can write to us and send a picture if you’d like to. Tell us what makes your pet special and why they are important to you as a sibling. You can email us at [email protected].
