As part of  our 25th Birthday celebrations, we’re offering a FREE therapeutic cake and cookie decorating session in June for young people who are growing up with a disabled brother or sister. Delivered in partnership with Julie-Anne from Bake-Well Therapy, each session will include support from a member of the Sibs team, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive space for siblings to connect and create.

When: Saturday 6th June 2026

Time: 11.30am-1.00pm

Where: On Zoom

Check out our Q&A here and book your place below:

Who can come to the session?

This session is for young people aged 13-17 who are growing up with a brother or sister who is disabled, neurodiverse, or has a long term health condition. We’ll ask you about this on the booking form.

What happens in the session?

This is a cookie and cake decorating session led by a therapist. This is not a therapy or counselling session.  It will provide an opportunity for teen siblings to come together, try out a baking activity and explore ways of supporting their own wellbeing. The therapist will work through various self-help techniques and provide some signposting to support following the session.

My teen sibling is very shy can they still join the session?

Absolutely. Young people are welcome to share during the session, but there will be no pressure to speak if they would rather just enjoy the activity.

What will we be making in the workshop?

Siblings will be decorating biscuits and cookies.

What equipment will I need?

We will post a box to your home containing the ingredients siblings need to complete the activity. This is a no-bake session, so you will not need to use kitchen appliances. In terms of equipment, ideally you would want a mixing bowl, wooden spoon (or any spoon will do), round bladed knife, piping bag (or plastic bag, freezer bag or greaseproof paper) and a storage container.  Please don’t worry if you don’t have any of these, we can help you find other ways to decorate!

Support for siblings during the activity

The activities are designed for teens to be able to participate by themselves.  However, you know your young person best.  If they are likely to need support, or help with equipment, or there are safety concerns with using knives for example, parents will need to monitor their young person and provide assistance.

My young person has allergies – can they join?

Yes but please do let us know in the booking form so that we can ensure that the ingredients are allergy safe. We will be using store bought ingredients – please double-check ingredient lists on packets when you receive your parcel.  It is your responsibility to disclose allergies at the time of booking.

Will I have to pay?

Due to some grant funding we’re able to offer free places at this workshop. If you’re in a position to do so, we kindly suggest a donation of £5 per child to support Sibs and help cover the costs of running sessions like these in the future. Each place costs  £50, so any contribution is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for any support you can give.

Can my disabled child join in the session?

Sibs is only funded to work with siblings, so this is for teen siblings only.

How do we join in?

To participate, parents/carers will need to provide an email address to receive the Zoom link.

You’ll need Wi-Fi and a computer, tablet or smartphone with camera and microphone (usually built in).
