I help my brother behave well

Some children with a learning disability or autism find it hard to behave well because their brains work differently. Siblings tell us that they feel annoyed or embarrassed when this happens. Many siblings want to know how they can support their brother or sister to behave well.

Some things you can do if you want your brother or sister to behave well

1

Say well done when they behave well. Give them a hug to show them that you are pleased with them.

2

Give them a big smile to show you are happy with them.

3

Give them a big clap and a cheer when they have done something well.

I always let my brother choose what programme to watch on TV when we get in from school. This makes him happy and then I get to choose two programmes later on which makes me happy too!
