About the sibling respite project

Sibs has gratefully received funding from Carers Trust to provide a series of respite opportunities for siblings who are carers for their brother or sister who is autistic. This research project will be evaluated so that we can assess what respite opportunities work best for siblings of someone who is autistic.

Who can take part?

To join our the adult sibling respite project you must be:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Currently live in the UK
  • Have a brother or sister who is autistic (this includes Asperger Syndrome)

Restrictions on the funding for this project mean that we are unable to offer places to siblings who have a brother or sister who isn’t autistic.

We will be offering other events in 2023 that will be for all siblings of someone with any lifelong disability. Please join our mailing list to stay tuned!

What projects are on offer?

  • The wellbeing retreat: Join us for a weekend retreat in the midlands, packed with yoga, mindfulness, creative workshops and sibling support sessions.
  • The discovery course: Explore new skills and meet other siblings in our 8 week online course, including creative writing, clay, laughter yoga, life coaching, mindfulness, painting and much more.
  • The self-care project: From the comfort of your own home and at your own pace, you can enjoy a special hamper from Sibs including a sibling book, guided mindfulness exercises and treats to pamper yourself with.

If you're unsure if you're a carer or not, ask yourself this question: 'Would I do these tasks for my brother or sister, if they weren't autistic?'
