Siblings and World Mental Health Day 2021

Siblings and World Mental Health Day 2021

This month’s blog is written by one of our amazing siblings, Oscar, who wanted to share his thoughts on World Mental Health Day 2021.

World Mental Health Day is on the 10th of October. It is a day to raise awareness about mental health issues around the world. With many of us having been back at school for one month, things may start to feel difficult. This is normal. We might feel a bit down for a number of reasons:

  • School work might feel difficult
  • Home life might be tough
  • People at school might behave in an unkind way

If any of this is happening to you, tell someone.  Do speak to a family member, a teacher or a friend. Don’t suffer alone. Speaking about something which is bothering you can make you feel better.

There are also lots of activities which can make you feel better. You can;

  • Go for a walk
  • Listen to music
  • Play sports with a friend
  • Watch a movie
  • Read a book

Be kind to yourself if you are upset. Look out for other people in your family who might need help too. If they are not comfortable sharing feelings, just ask them ‘Are you OK?’

Tell the team at Sibs what you do to make yourself feel better!
