Training for service providers

We run the following training days and workshops for staff working with siblings and their families.

Sibling group leader training

A one day training for professionals, volunteers and sessional workers who are planning to run a sibling. The training equips participants with enough information, activities, and confidence to set up a sibling group for children in the 7-13 age range. They learn how to use Sibs FRAME model, how to structure a sibling group and how to use dicussion based activities with siblings.

Workshop on supporting young siblings

A half day workshop for professioanls interested in learning more about the needs of siblings of children with disabilities or life limiting conditions. It is also for anyone interested in developing support services for siblings. Participants learn how to support young siblings within their organisation and in partnership with other local agencies.

Workshop on supporting adult siblings

A half day workshop for professionals interested in learning more about the support needs of adult siblings. Participants learn how to support adult siblings and how to work with them as partners in supporting their disabled brothers and sisters. 

Parenting siblings training

A half day training for professionals working with families of disabled children and for parenting practitioners. Participants learn how to help parents understand the needs of young siblings. They also learn practical activities they can teach parents for giving siblings attention, expaining disability, and dealing with feelings.

Consultancy on delivering sibling services

We provide consultancy on how to set up sibling services and how to develop resources for sibling support
