Gift boxes

Purpose
To help learn how to give and receive compliments and to have something to keep when the group finishes. It is a good activity when the children already know and trust one another.

You will need

  • Paper & pencils
  • Shoeboxes
  • Paints and materials to decorate them with.

How to do it

Each sibling decorates a box incorporating their name into the design.
Each sibling writes down what they like about the other people in the group, each on a separate sheet of paper. (As leader have a look at what is written before it is posted so that it is complimentary)
Siblings post their 'compliment slips' into each others boxes.
The boxes are taken home as a positive memento of the group.
