Sibs is currently involved with the following research projects on adult sibling issues:

Adult siblings of people with autism

Sibs has collaborated with the University of York on their research project  'Siblings of people with autism and learning disabilities: their current and future support needs.' We have been disseminating the findings of the research and looking at how service providers can support this group of adult siblings. Read the research findings below.

Adult siblings and future planning

Sibs is working with The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilitlies on their research project 'Thinking Ahead'. Its purpose is to identfiy the concerns and worries that parents, adult siblings and disabled people have about preparing and planning for the future and to find out what would help with this. Sibs is assisting with the part of the research that involves adult siblings of people with a lifelong learning disability. If you would like to take part in this research please contact us.

Students and researchers

We receive many requests for help with research and surveys on adult sibling issues. Each year we are only able to work with one or two main research projects about siblings. Due to our limited resources and to the low uptake of siblings for surveys and questionnaires, we prioritise our direct support work with siblings. Therefore, we are currently unable to assist with research projects and surveys. You may find some of the references in the reading list below useful.
