Social events and outings

These are some of the ideas that different groups have tried. If you have any others which have worked well, let us know.

Centre-based activities

  • Craft
  • Cooking
  • Barbecue (be aware of the safety implications)
  • Quiz night – perhaps based on one of the current TV quiz shows
  • Potted sports – set up a variety of challenges (they  can be very basic like throwing table tennis balls into a metal waste paper basket from a distance), divide the siblings into small groups of 2 or 3, one group at each activity. After say 3 minutes blow a whistle and everyone moves onto the next challenge. When everyone has done all the activities, if you have kept scores you can announce the winning team.
  • Team challenges – Divide into two or three teams and set up a series of contests (Some of you may remember "It's a Knockout)
  • Watch a DVD
  • Have a Takeaway
  • Party/karaoke night/disco
  • Talent show
  • Face painting
  • Circus skills
  • Drumming
  • Scrap books
  • Photo albums
  • Newsletter
