Mood music

Purpose
A fun way to learn about different emotions, using musical instruments

You will need

A selection of simple musical or percussion instruments, such as:
Xylophone
Cymbals
Tambourine
Trumpet
Tin whistle
Recorder
Drum
(Just 2 or 3 of these should do)
Paper and pencil

How to do it

  • Get everyone to write a feeling onto a piece of paper. Fold them up and put them into a suitable container.
  • Choose a member of the group to select a piece of paper and look at the feeling.
  • This person has to pick an instrument and play it in such a way as to express the feeling. The rest of the group have to guess what the feeling is.
  • This can be repeated so that each member of the group has a chance to play.

Thanks to Neil Eaves at Rainbows Hospice for this idea.
