Cost of sibling groups
Model One: Basic Service
This would consist of establishing a weekly sibling support group (48 weeks per year).
Costs associated with such a service include:
- Qualified social worker – time for planning, delivery, evaluation and supervision (6 hours per week)
- Manager – time for supervision (2 hours per month)
- Support staff – at least one person to assist with transport and logistics (7 hours per week)
- Accommodation costs
- Transport costs
The above costs will vary depending on certain variables such as transport in rural areas and the cost of venue hire. However it is estimated that this level of service provision would cost around £10,000 per annum.

Model Two: Developed Service
This would consist of running 3 group work sessions per week together with additional activity opportunities during school holidays and at weekends, together with a limited amount of individual counselling.
It is estimated that this level of service provision would require:
- Qualified Social Worker (20 hours per week)
- Manager/Supervisor (4 hours per month)
- 2 or 3 Support staff (1.5 fte)
- Accommodation costs
- Transport costs
- Activities costs
Variables include the amount and variety of activities required and the extent of individual counselling, together with location and transport costs. It is estimated that this level of service provision would cost £60,000 - £90,000 per annum.
